We did see one great little show from an emerging artist named Gustavo Scacchi at the Galería Arroyo Joven. The exhibition featured works centering around the theme of Noah’s Ark and included adorable little voluminous cloth sculptures of animals across from vintage pictures of exotic animals from an old card game covered with sheets of transparent blue plastic. I liked how the plastic gave me the sense that those poor animals were indeed drowning. In the room next door, Scacchi hung naive paintings of animals alongside wide paintings of cobalt blue waves. In all, he showed an impressive ability to use multiple mediums and I really loved the theme.
